Bad Bride

Why am i a bad bride?

Well, in the excitement (and slight stress) of picking my wedding party - which was a very difficult task b/c I've got some pretty awesome people in my life - I was very unoriginal and slightly goofy in asking my BM's to be in my wedding party. Sadly, I come across so many awesome ideas on other peoples blogs about how they intend to/have asked their special people... and i am sad that I didn't do something special as well...

So how would I have done it?

20/20 hindsight, right? Let's say if i could have a redo... here's what I'd do...

I'd give them one of the following small gifts with a card...I'd have them open the gift first ...

and then read the card. The card would read about one (maybe two... gotta save something for their gifts the day of) reason that it is important for me to have her in my wedding party... and then I would ask "Would you do me the honor of being in my bridal party?"

I know I can still do something special...but I'm just sad I missed the chance when i first had it. But since my BM's do read this, I'm not going to say if I will do anything now, at one of the showers/parties, or wait until the day of the wedding to do something special for them! Gotta keep 'em guessing!

*A cheap plug, but check out BeauCoup for more bridal party gift ideas! :)*

Aww you're not a bad bride. I'm sure you'll do even cooler tokens of BM love later down the road. And they'll love it even more then because they'll be more in the wedding spirit!!!

I am a bit torn about the whole giving something cool or putting a lot of thought into first asking someone.

What if they can't do it? They'll feel so bad for having to say no or worse they will try to suck it up and do it which could lead to a lot of bad blood down the road.

Maybe it would work out best to first just ask and then later launch a little surprise that way no one feels obligated to say yes when they really can't.

Also,

It's a Snow Day in blog-o-land!

Don't feel too badly, for I just asked them as well without doing anything special. I'm sure that they felt special anyways! :)

No, you are not an awful bride. I didn't think of these kind of things until after too.

I didn't do anything special either and they all still talk to me. LOL. As a matter of fact, I asked your FSIL to me a BM, but then asked (kind of told but made it sound like I was asking-lol) her if she would be the MOH understudy for when the 1st MOH told me she wasn't going to do it. THAT should have required a gift, huh? LOL.

I didn't ask my girls in any special way either {i was too excited and told them over the phone..lol} Instead, i'm having a special bridesmaids luncheon for them next month. Maybe you could do something similar. But in any event, I'm sure they're honored to be apart of your big day!

Yeah, I didn't think of anything cool to do to formally ask them. I never think of those things until afterwards, like the Pissed Off Bride.
What you could do is make up (or buy) a really cool little thank-you card and write a special message in it expressing your gratitude that they are going to be in your wedding. I did this and gave it to my bridesmaids with the necklaces and earrings that I made for them.

This is one of those areas where I also was completely low key and unoriginal, and you know what? I have no regrets! Weddings are complicated enough without overcomplicating the task of asking wedding party members if they're up to the task/honor...although I agree that are SO many fabulous ideas out there it is hard sometimes not to wish I'd done something great.
