Making room in my budget

for this:

live event artist wedding
Yes sir-ee Bob, I found me a live event artist thanks to this post I did last week. Heidi @Heidzillas commented saying one of her brides was doing this for her wedding. I emailed her back instantly asking for more info. I didn't even know where to begin in searching for someone with this type of talent... And Luckily for me, Heidi's bride, Tara didn't mind sharing. In fact she wrote me this email with all of her live event artist's info and how she found her. And although Tara's getting married in Cleveland, Ohio... lucky for me, her live event artist is actually from Orange County, CA. And Who's getting married in the OC? ME!!!!!!!!

So i contacted Karen @Karen Wall Garrison who is a custom fine artist/muralist/live event artist just to appease my curiosity. I really didn't think I could afford this and didn't know where to cut corners to try to make this work. After a few email's back and forth, I decided having this would be worth it, and surprisingly, her rates are VERY affordable.

Here are a few more examples of her work below... and you will notice, she is the newest addition to sponsor my site. Ladies... negotiate away. I was able to wrangle a discount by bartering services with her. We all know how powerful the blogosphere could be, and Karen who is amazingly talented will also find out that blog referrals are the best and plentiful.

So visit her blog, or her site and check out her amazing work. I can't wait to memorialize our wedding with this once in a lifetime chance to get it on canvas!

Now the real question is: Do i have her paint our ceremony or part of our reception? What would you do?

I love this idea! My vote is for the reception. You will have more decorations in the reception and she will be able to paint a more detailed picture of you and the groom.

I LOVE this!!! I would have loved to know about this when I got married...that would have been great to have hanging in my house. I'm jealous. :)

Oh I'm so excited you're doing this! I hope you post pictures of it! I think I'd do the reception as well, just to capture the excitement :)

This is going to be gorgeous! I would probably do the ceremony - but the reception would be fun to caputre everyone booging down.

That's so awesome! I did a Google search to find someone in the MD/DC/VA area after seeing your post... but to no avail! Unfortunately, I don't think I can fly someone out from CA...

I think you should have her paint the pups in, in a corner. :)

SO excited for you that it worked out. I think once we have a good idea of how the reception is going to look and the ceremony, you'll have a preference.

I am glad you found someone to do this amazing work at your wedding.
I am starting to consider that idea too.
Don't forget to share ;-)

Karen Wall Garrison is an excellent live artist - I've seen her in action - you will absolutely LOVE the finished product. Also to DCKate...don't lose hope! Most artists don't know how to advertise - you have to ask around locally. Check the life drawing class or ask the instructors at your local colleges. Maybe you just get a student to do a charcoal, but it will still be a precious memory for life! (coming from a girl who found a bell choir for her wedding in Michigan when she lived in CA)

Karen's work is fantastic ! I am going to suggest her to my customers. I am Karen's Katerers, in O.C. and I have a venue in Costa Mesa. I can "picture" her paintings hanging about the hall even now!
Awesome work Karen!
