Making Eye Shadow Last
You put on eye shadow in the morning. Ever wonder where it goes by lunchtime? If it’s caked in the crease of your eyelid, that’s worse. How can you keep eye shadow smoothly, evenly in place through the day ~ especially on your wedding day?
Actually, there are two key factors:
1) prepping the eye lid for shadow
2) quality of the eye shadow itself
Putting eye shadow directly on bare eye lids is the least effective way to apply it. The color pigment does not adhere to the bare skin as well as it adheres to a proper base or primer. There are eye lid primers (like concealers) that dry on application and make a great base for eye shadow. You can also sparingly sponge on your concealer and blend it across the eye lid, then apply a light dusting of your loose or pressed face powder. This will keep both a concealer and your eye color from creasing on your lid for many hours and allow the color to adhere much longer.
With eye shadow, you often get what you pay for. Unless you are a pro at using it, avoid cream eye shadows. Powder shadows apply smoothly and easily. A prestige brand eye shadow will generally have a much higher percentage of pigment, so the color will show up with even a light application and will stay put longer on a prepped eye lid. Cheaper brands of eye shadow will look similar in the compact, but will not show up the same on the lid. With less pigment, they have a shorter “lid life”. Find a few excellent quality eye shadows in neutral colors that flatter your eyes and style and master their application to pop your eyes. That will be a great investment in you. Buying quality means you only “cry” once!

Great tips! Thanks!! :)
SO TRUE about eyeshadow dissappearing by lunchtime... If I don't have primer on hand, I've substituted foundation which also works in a pinch.
nice! I hate cream shadows. They last until I blink.
