Since I do love all things beautiful and unique, I've invited Danielle From Gala Font to say a few words to introduce herself to you ... my readers! :)
First of all, I want to express gratitude to AmyJean for giving me the opportunity to say hello to all of you and let you know about GalaFont.
Like you, I pour over design and style blogs devouring all the eye-candy. There are so many amazing resources out there for weddings and events, I want to throw parties & have my wedding all over again just to make use of some of these amazing ideas!
As far as Galafont and what I do; my background is in interior design and during my first year of school, we learned hand drafting and classic architectural hand lettering using a slide rule and triangle.
After college and over 10 years in commercial design I have now taken time to raise a family. I adore design. I am thrilled by illustration. I am attracted to color and contrast. I am drawn to things of beauty. I missed having a creative outlet.
Over the years, I had often gotten compliments on my style of handwriting and would occasionally address envelopes for family events and when friends asked.
In 2006, I decided to present my handwriting as a service and GalaFont became my hand lettering business. My husband helped set up the GalaFont website and I sought business through word of mouth and posting on resource sites such as Craigslist. More recently, I have set up shop at Etsy, which is a great community to be a part of.
Similar to those offering calligraphy, I address envelopes and put my architectural-styled handwriting on just about any surface. (I have done everything from traditional table place cards to river rocks and decorative dinner plates.) I must stress that this is not calligraphy; I use technical drafting pens and write in a singular, modern font.
Although I most often work on stationery (envelopes, table place cards, etc.),
I can lend my lettering to cards for food presentation (i.e. candy buffet) or labels for favors (i.e. homemade jam).
I am always open to listening to what a client’s thoughts are for a fun, unique project and look forward to working with you!
